Job Description: Security Consulting Engineer Intern

As a Security Consulting Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to:

Interact with customers: Gain hands-on experience in understanding customer needs and designing solutions.
Learn Cisco Security Solutions: Develop a comprehensive understanding of Cisco’s security offerings.
Acquire technical and consultative skills: Develop the skills necessary to effectively advise and support Cisco customers.
Collaborate with other Cisco organizations: Gain insight into the broader Cisco ecosystem and how different teams contribute to customer success.

Responsibilities:

Attend on-site design and configuration sessions: Observe and participate in customer engagements with experienced mentors.
Collect customer requirements: Gather detailed information about customer business goals, security needs, and existing infrastructure.
Define business goals and requirements for integrations: Work with the team to translate customer requirements into technical specifications.
Identify and support large-scale design efforts: Contribute to the design of complex security solutions for customer networks.
Configure lab devices: Use configuration templates and systems to build and test security solutions in a controlled environment.
Analyze and design security policies: Contribute to the development of policies for Identity Services, Firewalls, Visibility Solutions, and Cloud-based solutions.
Analyze customer configurations: Provide feedback and recommendations to improve customer security posture.
Evaluate customer logs and NetFlow data: Identify potential security issues and recommend solutions to address them.
Learn and understand Security Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines: Become proficient in industry best practices and security standards.
Develop automation capabilities: Leverage programming languages (Java/Python/C++) and open source automation platforms (Ansible/Chef/Terraform) to automate tasks and improve customer efficiency.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Upcoming graduate of a technical degree or certification program from a Technical Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College or 4-Year University.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of IT systems, networking concepts, TCP/IP protocols, network devices and applications, OSI 7-layer model, or code development.
Soft Skills: Ability to work well in small dynamic teams, balance multiple responsibilities, handle ambiguity and unknowns, work remotely, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Other: Able to legally live and work in the country for which you’re applying, without visa support or sponsorship.
