Job Description: Scientific Data Analyst (SkillBridge Internship)

This opportunity is part of ENSCO’s Lead from the Front (LFF) Military Transition Program, an approved SkillBridge internship under DoDI 1322.29. The LFF program is designed to offer eligible service members practical work experience through industry-specific training during their final 180 days of military service. It encourages applications from eligible service members of any branch, regardless of rank (enlisted or officer).

Key Program Details:

Nature of Internship: This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge program.
Compensation: SkillBridge participants continue to receive their regular payment and benefits directly from their respective military branch as active-duty service members.
Authorization: Prior to the internship start, official authorization from the selected service member’s unit commander to participate in SkillBridge is mandatory.

SkillBridge Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for this SkillBridge internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Have served a minimum of 180 days on active duty.
• Be within 180 days of their separation or retirement date.
• Be projected to receive an honorable discharge.
• Have completed any required service Transition Assistance Program.
• Have obtained Unit Commander approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge.

Position Specifics (Scientific Data Analyst):

ENSCO is seeking a Scientific Data Analyst with direct expertise in analyzing time series data sets. The successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of waveform propagation and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze complex data sets. A demonstrated understanding of digital signal processing, mathematics, and in-depth knowledge of time series analytical expertise are essential.

Qualifications Required:

Military Role: Minimum of 2+ years experience as a 9S100 seismic analyst in the United States Air Force.
Technical Experience (Minimum 3 years related experience):
• Demonstrated experience in seismo-acoustic waveform analysis.
• Proficiency in using seismo-acoustic analysis software such as ARS (Analyst Review Station), Geotool/Seatools, and SAC (Seismic Analysis Code).
• Detailed understanding of local, regional, and teleseismic seismic phases.
• Understanding of digital signal processing, including spectral analysis.
• Observational ability to interpret time series waveform data, identifying seismic, infrasonic, and hydroacoustic phases, and distinguishing signals from background noise.
Software and Systems:
• Experience navigating within the Linux environment.
• Experience running programs in Python, Matlab, or other scientific software.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Professional Skills: A self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Security Clearance: Must hold an Active TS/SCI clearance.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Qualifications Desired:

• Ability to build an average of 60 seismic events per day.
• Experience working with large, disparate data sets, identifying long-term and short patterns.
• Experience with data fusion analytics.
• Experience with Magnitude, Distance, Amplitude Correction (MDAC) methodology.
• Ability to conduct spatio-temporal analysis.
• Familiarity with workflow in an operational environment.
• Familiarity with Government mission sets.

Salary Range (for potential full-time role): $15.63 – $21.58 USD (Note: This range typically applies to standard full-time employment and is not compensation for the SkillBridge internship, which is unpaid by ENSCO, with participants receiving military pay and benefits).
REAL ID Requirement: This position may necessitate access to U.S. federal facilities; a REAL ID-compliant form of identification or an acceptable alternative will be required for entry as of May 7, 2025.
Export Control and Licensing: This position may involve access to technology or technical data controlled under U.S. export control laws, which could require an export license for release to a non-U.S. person.
