Job Description:

Position: Science Teacher (Physics)

Overview: As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for driving exceptional student learning, ensuring that all students meet or exceed ambitious standards for academic and social-emotional growth and achievement. You will plan and implement a rigorous standards-aligned physics curriculum, coach and support a cohort of advisees throughout their time at Ednovate, and actively contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented team and school culture.

Responsibilities:

Master Content: Develop and implement cutting-edge digital curriculum aligned with Common Core Standards/NGSS Standards to ensure students have access to a high-quality, personalized college-prep experience. Teach fundamental principles of physics, fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on discovery.
Implement Personalized Instruction: Create and execute rigorous lesson and unit plans using backwards planning. Track student mastery using Ednovate’s data systems and adapt instruction based on data. Lead students in developing their passion and purpose through project-based learning. Provide clear, actionable feedback to drive continuous growth.
Build Transformative Relationships: Mentor a group of students throughout their high school experience as an advisor. Support advisees in meeting yearly promotion requirements through guided reflection and one-on-one conferences.
Create and Maintain Student Culture: Establish clear, consistent class structures, routines, and expectations aligned with the student culture model. Foster a sense of community through relationship-building. Hold consistently high expectations for all students and support them in meeting those expectations. Create a sense of urgency, optimism, and engagement.
Contribute to the Team: Build positive relationships with teammates. Engage in difficult conversations and debate to ensure the best ideas surface. Drive for clarity in decision-making. Seek, implement, and offer feedback for individual and team growth. Commit to collective results.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• A California Single Subject Teaching Credential or Out of State Teaching Credential preferred; clear path to receiving a teaching credential within a year required.
• 2+ years of teaching experience in a relevant subject area with a strong record of improving student learning strongly preferred.
• Significant content expertise in physics required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
