Job Description

This position is for a Scheduler who plays a crucial role in coordinating patient appointments and procedures within Capital Health.

Position Overview

The primary responsibilities of this role include:
• Efficiently answering scheduling calls, aiming to minimize customer hold times.
• Collaborating closely with physician offices to schedule cases, which involves negotiating suitable dates and times while actively avoiding conflicts related to resources.
• Accurately gathering complete patient and procedure information and meticulously entering this data into the designated database.
• Obtaining and informing patients about all necessary pre-certification and referrals required to ensure financial reimbursement.
• Timely and accurately completing the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) form. The scheduler must also understand and utilize the necessary software program to determine “medical necessity” before scheduling any Medicare patient.
• Informing all patients about the pre-registration option and proactively pre-registering patients when their information is obtainable.
• Ensuring that all relevant parties, including appropriate staff, patients, other departments, and external resources, are promptly notified of any additions, changes, or cancellations to schedules.
• Verifying that all necessary authorizations are obtained at least twenty-four hours prior to the date of service.
• Following established procedures for patients who are out of network.
• Adhering strictly to Capital Health’s attendance policy and all interdepartmental policies and procedures.
• Attending all mandatory departmental meetings.
• Performing any other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education: A high school diploma or its equivalency is required.
Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of experience working in a call center or customer service role, specifically assisting patients within a hospital or other medical environment.
Knowledge and Skills: A working knowledge of medical terminology is essential. The role also demands strong customer service and communication skills to effectively assist patients with their needs.
Special Training: A strong attention to detail is a critical requirement for this role.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and seamlessly navigate between different computer systems simultaneously. They should be capable of handling a large volume of incoming calls, manage their time effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Usual Work Day: The typical work day is 8 hours.

Compensation and Benefits Information

Minimum Pay: The listed minimum pay for this position is $24.08 per hour. This reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position.
