The Tone:
This is a contract role at Varsity Tutors, performed remotely from your home. Varsity Tutors operates a Live Learning Platform designed to transform the way people learn by leveraging advanced technology, AI, and learning science. This role is crucial for delivering personalized SAT Math instruction, directly impacting students’ test scores and readiness for academic success. Tutors have the flexibility to set their own schedule and make a significant difference in students’ learning journeys.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruction: Provide personalized, one-on-one online SAT Math instruction to individual students.
• Availability: Accept and fulfill on-demand tutoring requests whenever you are available.
• Logistics: Invoice for all completed tutoring sessions, with payments handled by the company.
• Enhancement: Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to enhance instructional support, generate lessons, and improve engagement during sessions.
• Adaptation: Adapt teaching methods and content to meet individual student learning needs and styles, addressing commonly struggled-with concepts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess advanced content mastery of all SAT Math topics, including linear equations, functions, inequalities, algebraic expressions, ratios, proportions, percentages, data interpretation, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and complex numbers, demonstrated by a minimum SAT Math score of 720.
• Experience: Proven track record of helping students significantly improve their math subscores on the SAT.
• Skills:
• Strategic Problem-Solving: Ability to teach multiple solution pathways, estimation techniques, and pattern recognition, guiding students through word problem translation, equation setup, graph interpretation, and strategic approach selection.
• Test Strategy Application: Familiarity with SAT Math question distribution, common traps, high-frequency topics, and the ability to adapt instruction through timed practice sections, error analysis, and formula sheet creation.
• Effective Teaching: Strong communication skills, a friendly and engaging teaching style, and the capacity to explain material using multiple approaches while adapting to individual learning styles.
