Job Title: Sample Accessioner

As a Sample Accessioner, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate intake, processing, and management of DNA testing cases. This position demands strict adherence to chain-of-custody requirements and client expectations. Responsibilities include the meticulous opening of samples, careful comparison of information, proactive addressing of concerns, effective problem-solving, and precise entry of client data into our Laboratory Information System. Your excellent data entry skills, meticulous attention to detail, and organizational prowess will be crucial for the successful completion of every case. This role is instrumental in facilitating the timely processing of samples, from initial receipt to final reporting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process and verify incoming sample packages, rigorously ensuring chain of custody and package integrity.
  • Accurately input and audit patient and contract information into the Laboratory Information System.
  • Manage case assignments, diligently track progress, and determine appropriate case resolution and closure.
  • Identify complete and partial cases, meticulously following established procedures for processing.
  • Prepare and send final reports, chain-of-custody documents, and affidavits in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Input partial billing information with precision.
  • Coordinate and provide service that is timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client-centered.
  • Meet or exceed productivity targets, ensuring timely case processing and resolution.
  • Prepare Affidavits as required.
  • Notarize case documents as required (limited).
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments, including Laboratory Operations and Customer Service, to facilitate prompt case resolution.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as they become evident.

Qualifications

  • One (1) to two (2) years of previous data entry experience preferred.
  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload efficiently and meet production goals in a high-volume environment.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and proficient typing skills are required.
  • Strong ability to multi-task effectively while maintaining impeccable accuracy and compliance.
  • Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to escalate issues effectively and appropriately.
  • Knowledge of record-keeping and chain-of-custody protocols is a significant plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision; must also be an effective team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive client information at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Communicating effectively with others to exchange information.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Possess manual dexterity to handle, label, and file samples and paperwork with precision.
  • Requires standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling to accomplish tasks and transport samples from the accessioning area to the Laboratory.

Compensation

$16.00-$17.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm
