Salt Sales Account Management Internship Description:
This 12-week summer internship (May/June – August 2025) offers hands-on experience in sales account management within Cargill’s Salt business. The internship involves a significant, substantive project assigned at the start, providing exposure to various aspects of the business. Responsibilities include:
• Project Work: A major project contributing to the business and sales team.
• Sales Process: Hands-on experience with the selling process, including utilizing the CRM tool and working directly with the sales team.
• Customer Interaction: Opportunities to meet with customers and visit Cargill facilities (up to 20% travel).
• Shadowing: Observing and learning from experienced salespeople in their day-to-day activities.
• Teamwork: Collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Presentation: Delivering a final presentation to Salt leadership on project outcomes and internship experiences.
• Community Service: Participating in community service projects in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Cargill’s Salt Business:
Cargill’s Salt business manufactures, packages, and ships salt for diverse markets including agriculture, food, water conditioning, industrial uses, chemicals, and packaged ice control. They operate over 20 production, processing, and warehousing locations utilizing mechanical evaporation, solar evaporation, and rock salt mining. Their customers range from retailers (home improvement, grocery, convenience stores) to food makers/processors, water conditioning dealers, and foodservice distributors. They offer over 1,000 salt products and package sizes under various brands including Diamond Crystal, Champions Choice, Cargill, and Alberger.
Internship Program Details:
The internship provides paid hourly work ($19.40 – $26.90/hour, dependent on graduation date and full-time eligibility), mentoring, networking opportunities (with employees at all levels and across functions), access to Cargill’s learning resources and volunteer programs, and regular performance feedback. High-performing interns may be offered future internship, co-op, or full-time positions. The program also includes orientation and events connecting interns across the U.S. Relocation assistance may be available for qualifying candidates. The internship is located in Wayzata, MN, with an office setting.
