Job Description: Salt Sales Account Management Internship
This 12-week summer internship (May/June – August 2025) offers hands-on experience in sales within Cargill’s Salt business. The internship provides a significant project focused on contributing to the sales team and business. Interns will gain exposure to various aspects of the sales process, including utilizing CRM tools and working directly with the sales team.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Project Work: A substantive project assigned at the beginning of the internship, providing exposure to diverse work tasks.
• Sales Process Immersion: Hands-on experience in the selling process, including utilizing the CRM tool.
• Customer Interaction: Opportunities to interact with customers through trips with the sales team to meet clients and visit facilities (up to 20% travel).
• Shadowing: Shadowing experienced salespeople to learn daily sales activities.
• Feedback and Development: Receiving regular feedback on performance and participating in orientation, mentoring, and development opportunities.
• Networking: Networking with employees across various levels and functions within the organization.
• Community Service: Participating in community service projects in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
• Final Presentation: Presenting project outcomes and internship feedback to the Salt leadership team.
Cargill’s Salt Business:
Cargill’s Salt business manufactures, packages, and distributes salt for various markets, including agriculture, food, water conditioning, industrial uses, chemical applications, and packaged ice control. They operate over 20 manufacturing, processing, and warehousing locations, employing mechanical evaporation, solar evaporation, and rock salt mining. Their customers range from retailers (home improvement, hardware, grocery, convenience stores) to food manufacturers, water conditioning dealers, foodservice providers, and general wholesale distributors. They offer over 1,000 salt products and package sizes under various brands, including Diamond Crystal, Champions Choice, Cargill, and Alberger.
Internship details:
• Compensation: $19.40 – $26.90/hour, depending on graduation date and full-time employment eligibility.
• Location: Wayzata, MN (office setting).
• Travel: Up to 20% travel.
