Job Description: Sales Internship
This is a 10-week paid summer internship at Ferguson, designed for individuals passionate about a career in sales. The program offers hands-on experience focused on serving customers and building sales competencies, with the aim of making a meaningful impact within the organization.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities & Learning Outcomes):
• Gain hands-on experience in key sales areas including serving customers, product knowledge, sales processes, customer relationship management (CRM), and performance analysis.
• Work directly alongside experienced sales teams, contributing to real-world projects.
• Assist with shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse to understand the impact of supply chain and logistics on sales.
• Participate in both leadership and sales training sessions.
• Engage in various sales activities, including inside sales, outside sales, counter sales, and branch management, providing insight into daily branch operations.
• Attend leadership panels and networking events to connect with professionals.
• Present a final sales project to senior leaders, showcasing learned skills and insights.
• Experience a one-week immersive program at Ferguson’s headquarters in Newport News, VA, dedicated to networking and gaining a deeper understanding of Ferguson culture and values.
What You Need (Qualifications):
• Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field. Applicants should be a rising junior or senior.
• Availability: Able to commit to working 10 consecutive weeks during the summer.
• Personal Attributes: Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, competitive, and customer-centric.
• Work Ethic: Possesses the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get the job done as a real-world problem solver.
• Communication Skills: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Teamwork: Able to work collaboratively with team members and customers.
• Organizational Skills: Exhibits strong teamwork, adaptability, and time management skills.
• Adaptability: Able to navigate an ambiguous environment and demonstrates strong organizational skills.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in basic computer programs, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Upon successful completion of the internship, qualified candidates with strong performance may be extended a job offer. It is important to note that the position offered may not be in the same location as the internship, therefore, interns should be open to the possibility of relocation.
