Sales Intern

What Will the Work Look Like for Me?

While exact responsibilities will vary, you can expect dynamic opportunities such as:

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of diverse sales strategies, including inside sales, Business-to-Business (B2B), service sales, and advertising sales.
  • Job shadow experienced sales professionals.
  • Actively participate in product demonstrations, customer visits, and potentially trade shows.
  • Deliver customer presentations.
  • Conduct market research and generate/track sales leads.
  • Learn and contribute to sales operation processes.
  • Engage with the Daktronics Intern Group through monthly luncheons, Toastmasters sessions, and recruiting events.
  • Develop presentation skills by delivering an internship capstone presentation and attending those of your peers.
  • Gain exposure to our manufacturing process through a production rotation.
  • Actively build and maintain professional relationships across the organization.

Internship Details

  • When will I work? This full-time internship typically runs from May 11, 2026, to December 11, 2026. An alternate schedule of June 8, 2026, to December 18, 2026, may be considered to accommodate university calendars.
  • Where is this opportunity located? This opportunity is primarily based in Brookings, South Dakota. The role offers flexibility to work from Daktronics offices and/or a home-based office.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: The typical hiring range for this position is $15.50 to $20.00 per hour, based on the Brookings, South Dakota location. Actual offers will reflect factors such as education, experience, and local legislation. Financial Relocation Assistance is provided for qualifying positions requiring specific placement.

Required Qualifications

Personal Attributes

  • We are seeking an outgoing, self-motivated, flexible, and well-organized individual who is both empathetic and personable.
  • You should possess a strong understanding of customer needs and be prepared for a work schedule that may include evenings and weekends.

Academic Requirements

  • Currently a full-time student enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in a related field such as Sales, Business, Communication, Economics, Sports Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing, or Engineering.
  • May 2026 graduates will also be considered.
  • Completion of your sophomore year with good academic standing.
  • Ability to take a semester off from school (no class obligations, online or in-person) for the internship duration, if applicable.
  • Commitment to at least 40 hours per week, with availability for required overtime to support special events and travel.
  • Submission of unofficial or web transcripts with your application.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time (approximately 50 days), typically involving 5-15 trips ranging from 2-13 days, including weekends.
  • Ability to travel by both air and ground.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet/maintain Daktronics Driving Eligibility Requirements (Motor Vehicle Records will be checked).
  • Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements for operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV), including:
    • Being at least 21 years of age.
    • Obtaining state and company certification to operate a CMV with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 to 26,001 pounds.
    • Successfully completing a driver exam road test.
    • Passing a medical exam, including a drug test.
    • Physical ability to connect a trailer to a vehicle.
    • Demonstrated ability to safely operate large trucks (with or without trailers) in various weather and traffic conditions.

Other Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of Spanish or French is helpful, but not required.
  • Daktronics does not sponsor, renew, or extend immigration visas for this position.
