Job Overview: Sales Engineer Intern
Reporting to the Applications Engineering Manager, the Sales Engineer Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the team. This position primarily involves performing a variety of tasks including technical selection support, quotation preparation, and the development and implementation of various tools.
Responsibilities
- Identify project requirements and constraints to accurately determine project deliverables.
- Support the development of complex technical proposals.
- Analyze customer specifications meticulously to ensure all requirements are met.
- Prepare detailed specification deviation and/or technical clarification lists.
- Serve as the key technical liaison between sales, engineering, and the customer, facilitating clear communication.
- Collaborate with other internal departments and external suppliers to address quotation-specific requirements.
- Assist multiple engineers with their daily tasks, contributing to overall team efficiency.
- Support the development and enhancement of pump hydraulic selection software.
- Conduct detailed reviews of pump performance test data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Must be highly detailed and well-organized in all tasks.
- Skilled in time management, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively, and managing changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience or relevant coursework in rotating equipment/centrifugal pumps, low voltage control systems, or high voltage electrical systems is a significant plus.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software, with SOLIDWORKS preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is strongly preferred.
Experience and Education
- Must possess Junior or Senior class standing and be actively enrolled in an Engineering or Computer Science program.
- Alternatively, recent graduates with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or a BS in Computer Science are encouraged to apply.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
To successfully perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to:
- Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel.
- Talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
- Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates, potentially including weekdays, weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs may be required.
- The job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may necessitate travel to a client’s office, production facility, or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the general conditions listed above will apply.
- A valid driver’s license is required for travel, along with the ability to obtain a passport.

Environmental Safety Requirements
- New Employee Safety Training, including Safety Awareness, is required for all newly hired employees.
- All safety-related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Technician.
- Job-specific training modules deemed necessary by the employee’s Manager or Director will be required on an ongoing basis for all employees.
- Employees are required to wear Nikkiso-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as and when needed. PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut-resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and dust masks.
- Failure to comply with Nikkiso Cryo safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
