This is a Safety Internship with Mass Electric Construction, focused on ensuring the safety of workers on construction projects across North America, aligning with the company’s mission of “nobody gets hurt.”
As a Safety Intern, you will gain hands-on, real-world learning experience in construction management while supporting field teams. You will learn about the skills, programs, regulations, and guidelines essential for safety in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Be part of a team implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program, including the development of site-specific safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in monitoring various construction project activities to ensure compliance with government regulations (Federal and OSHA), state or provincial requirements, client policies, and company procedures.
• Help establish and monitor safe working conditions for personnel.
• Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in implementing metrics for tracking and reporting on performance issues as needed.
• Review project work plans for accuracy and conformance with all safety standards.
• Assist in safety program audits, coaching, and regular onsite training.
• Carry out duties in varying work environments, including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain.
• Be prepared for travel and/or relocation as required for projects.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study.
• Preferred knowledge of construction safety, current Federal, and OSHA requirements.
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization, from craft to leadership.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
• Ability to travel and relocate as required for projects.

The internship offers a base compensation of $18.00/hr – $22.00/hr, with actual compensation subject to variation based on factors like education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
