Key Responsibilities of the Safety Intern:

As a Safety Intern, you will play a crucial supportive role, working closely with the on-site Safety Manager and dedicated safety staff to actively promote and manage Walsh’s robust Safety Programs. This immersive internship is for a minimum duration of 12 weeks, during which you will gain exposure to multiple career paths within our company. Our goal is to train you with the essential skills and knowledge to transition into a full-time employee upon college graduation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively participating in field safety walks to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Assisting the Safety Manager with crucial first-day safety orientations for new employees, setting the standard for a safe work environment.
  • Learning to accurately complete and process accident and incident reports, contributing to our continuous improvement efforts.
  • Supporting the oversight of the overall safety and health of personnel working across company jobsites.
  • Helping the Safety Manager to effectively coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, ensuring all company safety policies and procedures are clearly understood and rigorously implemented.

Qualifications:

  • Currently seeking a bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • The ability to commit to a 12-week work schedule is preferred, allowing for a comprehensive learning experience.
  • Please note: Specific roles within the program may require relocation. If you are willing to relocate for an opportunity, you will be eligible for a living allowance to support your transition.
