Job Description: Safety & Industrial Hygiene Intern/Co-op:
Safety & Industrial Hygiene Interns/Co-ops play a crucial role in maintaining high standards for protecting people, the environment, and communities. They support all areas of the business and receive training in various HES&S (Health, Environment, Safety & Security) subject areas, including safety, environmental, health, and security.
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting company professionals in implementing health, safety, and security planning and compliance activities.
• Conducting facility audits.
• Developing and delivering employee training programs.
• Working in industrial hygiene, including designing and implementing industrial hygiene equipment.
• Performing equipment maintenance.
• Participating in health, safety, and security projects.
• Investigating incidents.
• Contributing to emergency preparedness and response.
• Handling governmental inspections and ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Interacting with agencies and liaising with other Marathon business units.
• Completing other safety and security-related projects.
• Writing and submitting reports for projects.
Qualifications:
• Desired majors: Occupational Safety & Health; Environmental Health; Industrial Hygiene; Fire Protection & Safety; Earth and Environmental Sciences; Industrial Security; or other related fields.
• Strong academic performance.
• Authorization to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without needing employment visa sponsorship.
• Valid driver’s license (travel may be required).
• Military experience is a plus.
• Concurrent enrollment in a degree-seeking program.
• Pay: $22.21 – $33.51 per hour

The internship is available at various locations including: Corporate (Findlay, OH or San Antonio, TX); Refineries (Anacortes, WA; Canton, OH; Catlettsburg, KY; Detroit, MI; Dickinson, ND; El Paso, TX; Garyville, LA; Kenai, AK; Los Angeles, CA; Mandan, ND; Robinson, IL; Salt Lake City, UT; St. Paul Park, MN; Texas City, TX (Galveston Bay); Martinez, CA); and other field locations.
