Job Description: Safety and Occupational Health Intern
Overview:
The Safety and Occupational Health Intern will gain hands-on experience in the hospitality and amusement park tourism industry while contributing to Cedar Point’s safety initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Safety and Occupational Health team to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct and document compliance audits, inspections, and accident investigations
• Perform workplace inspections to ensure employee safety compliance and facility code compliance
• Audit lock out/tag out procedures for maintenance personnel working on hazardous equipment
• Perform monthly inspections of eye wash stations throughout the park
• Conduct audits of safety training documentation, including hazardous communication, blood-borne pathogens, and vehicle operations
• Maintain inventory of departmental hazardous chemicals and ensure proper Safety Data Sheets are available
Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be attending an accredited college or university within the United States
• Preferred majors: Safety and Occupational Health, Safety Management
• CPR Certification
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods
• Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test
• Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older
