The Tone:
This is a full-time, rotational program role at Dodge & Cox, located in Hybrid San Francisco, CA. Dodge & Cox is a leading active asset manager, deeply invested in shaping how its operations function efficiently and effectively in a constantly evolving market. This program brings in a small cohort of high-potential individuals who will be instrumental in modernizing complex operations within a highly regulated financial industry. Participants will gain real ownership of projects and receive direct mentorship from department heads and senior firm leadership. Associates will tackle problems with real business consequences, from mapping and redesigning manual processes and building data-driven business cases, to evaluating and strategically applying AI and automation tools to enhance firm performance, operational agility, and overall efficiency.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Diagnosis: Map and meticulously diagnose business processes end-to-end, thoroughly identifying existing bottlenecks, cumbersome manual hand-offs, unnecessary redundancies, and significant opportunities for automation, strategic redesign, or the application of AI technologies to enhance operational flow.
• Recommendation Generation: Translate comprehensive findings into clear, credible, and actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders, enabling them to effectively assess critical opportunities for firm-wide improvements and the adoption of advanced technology-enabled solutions.
• Solution Implementation: Partner collaboratively with technology, operations, and various business teams to meticulously design and pilot innovative solutions, actively driving initiatives forward from an initial proof of concept phase through successful implementation and widespread adoption across the firm.
• Business Fluency Development: Rapidly build comprehensive business fluency across the firm by deeply understanding each department’s specific goals, intricate workflows, essential controls, and key performance metrics, then strategically carrying those critical insights forward across all subsequent rotations.
• Standardization & Scaling: Proactively identify recurring patterns and commonalities across diverse teams, effectively share valuable insights gleaned, and develop robust, reusable frameworks where optimized workflows or innovative solutions can be efficiently standardized or scaled firm-wide for maximum impact.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early-Career professional with a Bachelor’s degree and an excellent academic record in AI, Math, Economics, Data or Computer Science, or a similar analytically rigorous background.
• Experience: Up to 5 years of professional experience in financial services, technology, management consulting, or data analytics, or an undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems and develop structured, actionable recommendations; analytical rigor and comfort working with data to support decision-making; clear, concise communication, equally effective with technical colleagues and non-technical senior stakeholders; strong technical fluency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Excel); intellectual curiosity, a high standard of excellence, and a demonstrated passion for improving processes and increasing efficiency.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of cloud software (e.g., Snowflake, Azure) is a plus; experience with process redesign, automation, or AI/ML tools in applied settings; one-year master’s programs in AI, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
