They automate fulfillment center operations using various methods of robotic technology including autonomous mobile robots, sophisticated control software, language perception, power management, computer vision, depth sensing, machine learning, object recognition, and semantic understanding of commands. Amazon Robotics has a dedicated focus on research and development to continuously explore new opportunities to extend its product lines into new areas. Internship/co-op/full-time opportunities are based out of the Greater Boston Area in state-of-the-art facilities in Westborough, MA and North Reading, MA. Both campuses offer direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.

Job Description: Robotics Deployment Engineering Co-op (North Reading, MA):

Within Amazon Robotics, the Robotics Deployment Engineering team oversees the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment within new and existing fulfillment centers. This field engineering-based role requires technical skills related to the deployment of robotic equipment, including work with mechanical, electrical, networking, and software systems during deployment. Training is provided on specific systems, but candidates should possess existing knowledge of the basic operations of robotics and networked mechanical and electrical systems.

The co-op will deploy robotics systems in various phases of a product lifecycle. Responsibilities include developing process documentation, modifying existing processes (in partnership with project and program managers) to drive business performance and sustainability. Proven technical knowledge, a love of field work, and a keen interest in the workings of Amazon’s robotics systems are critical.

This position requires up to 75% travel. A valid US driver’s license is required. The internship is a full-time (40 hours/week) 3-month position between May/June 2025 and July/August 2025, or a 6-month position between January 2025 and June 2025 or July 2025 and December 2025.

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in college/university working towards a BS degree in Engineering or a closely related STEM field; at least one semester/term/quarter of school remaining after the co-op.
• Eligibility and availability for a full-time (40h/week) internship (either 3 or 6 months, depending on the specific timeframe).
• Experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
• Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to read technical drawings and/or CAD models.
• Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems, perform testing, and monitor robotics system performance.
• Ability to read and develop technical documentation and process instructions.
• Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field-based role and travel extensively across the US.
• Proficiency in standard office software tools and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with creative problem-solving and articulating technical challenges and solutions.
• Exposure to AWS and other web technologies, schedulers, workflows, state machines, multi-threading, and networking protocols.
• Interest in Robotics (coursework or clubs).
• Experience with hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked equipment.
• Demonstrated use of data to drive decision-making processes.
• Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
• Knowledge of robot-specific experience (Fanuc, ABB), Allen Bradley PLC experience.
• Programming skills (C++, Python, Java, etc.).
