Job Description
• Job Title: Respiratory Equipment Technician
• Primary Purpose: Equipment set-up, reprocessing and cleaning, and local supply management under the direction and supervision of the respiratory therapist. Provides extra support to the respiratory department to ensure proper allocation and availability of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory/pulmonary equipment throughout the hospital.
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program
• Core Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of RT supply areas.
• Cleans and processes respiratory equipment for multi-patient use according to hospital infection control policies.
• Assists respiratory therapists with equipment and supply needs.
• Sets up ventilators in the department and performs pre-operative checks.
• Sets up respiratory equipment such as HFNC, Bipaps, and other equipment as instructed.
• Reports defective or damaged equipment to the HTM department.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull 40 pounds.
• Skills and Abilities:
• Computer skills
• Communication skills
• Additional Information:
• Position for first-year Respiratory Therapy students.
• Casual position with variable shifts.
• Scheduled for 4 hours per week.
• Non-Exempt position.
