Internship – Real Assets | Aegon Asset Management
The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship at Aegon Asset Management, located in Cedar Rapids, IA. Aegon Asset Management is a leading global investor with 1,125 employees working across 14 locations, managing and advising on assets of US $384 billion. The firm is organized into four investment platforms: fixed income, real assets, equities, and multi-asset & solutions. This role is vital for supporting the Real Assets Client Strategy team by collecting, organizing, and synthesizing critical data related to various real assets sectors, underpinning the firm’s research-driven active management approach.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: 20-hour work week during school semester; full-time during the summer (Jan. – Aug. 2027), with flexibility to extend.
• Location: Hybrid, Cedar Rapids, IA
• Team: Supporting the Real Assets Client Strategy team and current research analysts.
• Mission: To assist in collecting, organizing, and synthesizing data related to the macroeconomy, commercial real estate, capital markets, and other real assets sectors.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Support market and portfolio research efforts by analyzing data to uncover insights on commercial real estate performance, portfolio positioning, and sector trends.
• Data Visualization: Aggregate and summarize economic, real estate, and portfolio-level data, synthesizing information into charts, tables, and other visuals.
• Reporting: Support the preparation of presentations, memos, and client reports.
• Data Management: Help maintain and update real estate data files, dashboards, and financial models.
• Collaboration: Attend internal meetings and shadow full-time analysts to gain exposure to the investment research process.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be currently enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Not available for students who have completed or will graduate prior to the internship’s conclusion.
• Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills, critical thinking, technical, and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work. Proven ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines consistently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
