Research Intern – Game/Realtime Engines for Multimodal Experiences

This specific internship focuses on developing novel gaming and entertainment experiences through the use of game/realtime engines. You’ll be part of a team researching how to utilize these engines to explore, prototype, and perform experiments involving audio, video, haptics, and sensors (EEG, GSR, eyetrackers, etc.). The goal is to understand new vectors of interactivity, immersion, and multimodal perception for applications in entertainment, education, training, and wellbeing.

# Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to research projects within the field of Game/Realtime Engines for Multimodal Experiences.
• Collaborate with experienced researchers and engineers to explore the possibilities of multi-sensory experiences.
• Prototype and implement game engine-based solutions for experimental purposes.
• Design and conduct experiments to explore new forms of interactivity and immersion.
• Analyze data and contribute to technical reports and/or publications.

# Ideal Candidate:

• Postgraduate student (PhD candidate or Master’s student with research experience) in computer vision, computer graphics, computational photography, Artificial Intelligence, Neuroscience, or a related field.
• Proven ability to utilize game engines for implementing experiments, prototyping new experiences, or developing novel training, wellbeing, and entertainment experiences.
• Experience as a researcher (internships, full-time roles, or at a lab).
• Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, MATLAB, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with 3D rendering pipelines and libraries.
• Experience with view synthesis under real-time constraints.
• Shader programming experience on Nvidia or Apple hardware.
• Proficiency in creating demos and prototypes for research applications.
• Experience writing technical reports and/or publications.
• Prior experience with first-author publications at peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

This internship is a full-time, 3-month commitment from September 2024 to December 2024, with a start date of Monday, September 23, 2024.
