Key Responsibilities:
The Research Intern will operate under the guidance and supervision of senior investigators and research staff. Core duties include:

• Performing literature reviews to support ongoing projects.
• Collecting and analyzing data.
• Assisting with the preparation of research manuscripts, reports, or presentations.
• Actively participating in lab or team meetings.
• Organizing research materials.
• Maintaining accurate project documentation.
• Providing support for other project-related activities as needed.
Learning Objectives:
The internship is structured around three key learning objectives designed to foster comprehensive development:
1. Develop Proficiency in Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis in a Laboratory Setting:
• Gaining hands-on experience in basic science techniques like cell culture, histology, spectroscopy, and cell sequencing, with direct guidance from attending physicians and research mentors.
• Learning to apply basic and intermediate statistical methods for clinical data analysis, supported by faculty and biostatisticians.
• Participating in research design discussions, including hypothesis formulation, identification of relevant variables, and development of data collection protocols.
2. Contribute Meaningfully to Basic Science Research and Enhance Ability to Conduct Academic Research:
• Actively engaging in ongoing basic science research studies within the department of plastic and reconstructive surgery by contributing to literature reviews, data abstraction, manuscript writing, and abstract preparation.
• Attending departmental research meetings and other educational activities to improve scientific communication and academic writing skills.
• Collaborating with research mentors on the preparation of research posters and oral presentations for submission to national or international academic conferences.
3. Cultivate Professionalism, Team Collaboration, and Reflective Practice:
• Participating in regular mentoring sessions to review progress, receive feedback, and set goals for continued growth throughout the internship.
• Working as an integral part of a multidisciplinary research team, emphasizing effective communication, mutual respect, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Engaging in self-assessment and structured reflection exercises to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and strategies for personal and professional development in academic medicine.
Eligibility Requirements:
