Overdrive is looking for economists to solve difficult empirical problems, focusing on causal inference, empirical IO, and time series modeling. They aim to facilitate research and foster deeper insights into a Fortune 50 eCommerce website opportunity set to increase the magnitude of their client’s successes.
Job Description:
Overdrive is seeking a Research Intern to join their team. This is an UNPAID internship for the Fall of 2021 (September 2021 start date; 10-week program).
The ideal candidate will have extensive graduate training in economics and econometrics and an interest in answering challenging, open-ended research questions with real-world impact. Expertise in one or more of the following fields is preferred: causal inference and the statistical analysis of randomized experiments; game theory and economic modeling, especially concerning the economics of platforms; and empirical industrial organization.
What You’ll Do:
• Measure the demand response to various business decisions, using both observational and experimental methods
• Forecast demand at scale using a combination of time series and ML techniques
What You’ll Need:
• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics
• Background in one of the following is preferred: applied microeconomics, empirical industrial organization, applied macro, empirical finance, time series/forecasting, behavioral economics, causal inference, quantitative marketing
• Strong statistics background, ideally including proficiency in Python or R
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience with empirical research and for answering questions with data
• Experience communicating quantitative analysis
• Experience manipulating and analyzing data
• Knowledge of a data analysis tool such as R or Python, and experience with general-purpose programming languages
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in Economic or related field
