About the Company:
Microsoft’s research internships offer a vibrant environment within a network of world-class research labs. These labs are led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers who tackle complex challenges across diverse fields like computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment. The company is a leader in AI, particularly in the area of large language models (LLMs) and multimodal AI.
Description:
This research internship within Microsoft’s GenAI team focuses on advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Systems, specifically LLM and multimodal AI technologies. The team bridges the gap between LLMs and other modalities (vision, audio, text) to create richer, more integrated solutions. Their work enhances Microsoft’s AI leadership and contributes to next-generation AI products. The team collaborates closely with research teams and product groups globally, leveraging expertise in machine learning, cloud systems, and software engineering. Research findings are disseminated through peer-reviewed publications, open-source contributions, blog posts, patents, and conference presentations.
The internship involves both fundamental and applied research, working alongside experienced researchers and scientists. Interns will contribute to projects addressing challenges such as:
• Adapting LLMs for new domains
• Creating multimodal agent solutions for workflow automation
• Using LLMs and multimodal models for intelligent service monitoring and anomaly detection
• Leveraging models like GPT for debugging and program synthesis
• Advancing the integration of language, vision, and other modalities in AI systems
Responsibilities: Research interns will actively participate in research, collaborating with doctoral candidates and leading researchers. They will learn, collaborate, network, present findings, and contribute to the research community. The 12-week internship includes mentorship and collaboration with other interns and researchers.
