Job Description: Research Intern – Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL)
Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) is seeking a Research Intern based in Arlington, VA. ACL has a nearly two-decade history of developing cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC). The lab focuses on Information Operations (IO) and Computer Network Operations (CNO) technologies.
The intern will be a vital member of a team of applied researchers and engineers working on cutting-edge customer and internally funded R&D projects. The position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance (US Citizenship required).
Responsibilities:
The intern will contribute to research and development projects, potentially including presenting results and demonstrating prototypes to teammates and program customers.
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Security, or a related field.
• Demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas:
• User-space or kernel-space development
• C, C++, Python software development
• Networking protocols and socket application development
• Debugging (e.g., gdb, windbg, OllyDbg, Valgrind)
• Guided technical research explorations
Desired Skills:
While not required, experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
• Applied research skills
• Embedded systems development
• Compiler Design and Implementation
• Machine-learning/Artificial Intelligence
• Static and dynamic reverse engineering on x86/x86_64, MIPS, ARM, or PowerPC
• Vulnerability Analysis of source code or binaries
• IDS and PSP Design and Implementation
• Cyber/IO/CNO R&D
Self-motivation, a passion for cyber technologies, and proficiency in research and prototype development are highly valued.
Security Clearance: A government security clearance is required; US Citizenship is mandatory. The clearance level is Top Secret.
Work Schedule: 4×10 hour days, 3 days off per week. Onsite full-time work at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Other flexible work schedules may be available.
