Description: Research Engineer Intern (SSL, Cherry Hill, NJ)

This internship provides opportunities for emerging engineering generalists to contribute to cutting-edge research projects. The daily responsibilities are adaptable based on program needs, allowing interns flexibility to explore areas of interest and collaborate with other lab members. The role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance (US citizenship required).

Potential Responsibilities:

Software Development: Design, code, and test software for advanced receivers, transmitters, antennas, and jam/anti-jam systems (digital and RF/analog). Proficiency in C and/or C++ is preferred.
Data Engineering: Architect and implement data engineering pipelines for automated analysis of machine learning, sensor processing, and target tracking research prototypes using large datasets.
RF Processing and Target Tracking: Utilize fundamental principles to analyze, debug, and integrate relevant software.
Research Project Leadership: Lead and/or support research projects to develop innovative solutions for novel problems.
Field Testing: Participate in large-scale field tests of systems in various environments (ground, sea, air).
Business Development Support: Contribute to acquiring new business by proposing solutions to customer challenges.

Basic Currently pursuings:

• Enrollment in a B.S. degree program (accredited university) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in at least one of the following areas:
• Software development (C, C++ preferred)
• FPGAs and digital design (Xilinx preferred)
• Digital signal processing (software and/or FPGA fabric)
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Desired Skills:

Software/Algorithms: CI/CD pipeline design and implementation; modern wireless communication techniques and protocols; familiarity with machine learning algorithms and pipelines.
Embedded/Hardware: Experience with RF test equipment; kernel/driver development; embedded C and/or C++ development; software-defined radios; RF circuit design; MATLAB.
Research: Ability to develop novel solutions; leading research in state-of-the-art technologies.
General: Awareness of customer mission areas (Electronic Warfare (EW), Electronic Support Measures (ESM), Signal Intelligence (SIGINT)); radar signal processing; system administration experience (Ubuntu and/or RedHat preferred).

Security Clearance: A government security clearance is required; US citizenship is mandatory. The clearance level is Secret.
