Equity Research Associate – Communications and Networking | Needham
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Needham & Company, LLC, a full-service investment bank with offices in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Minnesota, Chicago, and Miami. Needham provides extensive financial services across various sectors. This role is crucial for supporting the Senior Analyst in delivering comprehensive company and industry research, constructing detailed financial models, and marketing research recommendations to clients and institutional salespeople within the Communications and Networking sectors.

• Mission: To support the Senior Analyst in delivering extensive research and financial analysis for the Communications and Networking sectors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Industry Expertise: Build strong industry knowledge of the Communications and Networking sectors, including Broadband, Optical, Data Center, Enterprise, and Space.
• Financial Modeling: Develop, maintain, and forecast detailed earnings models covering revenue, income statement, balance sheets, and cash flow.
• Trend Analysis: Analyze industry market, economic, and technology trends to inform research and recommendations.
• Research Production: Assist in writing reports and notes on companies under coverage, related companies, and broader industry analysis.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate research findings and develop relationships with sales, traders, clients, and company management teams.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance, with a passionate interest in equity markets and technology.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in finance or accounting, with a preference for Equity Research or Investment Banking experience.
• Skills: High fluency in accounting and financial statement analysis, advanced knowledge of Excel, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and highly detail-oriented.
• Bonus: Progress towards CFA, and possession or willingness to obtain Securities Industry Essentials, Series 63, 7, 86, and 87 licenses.
