Tacoma Power is a municipally-owned public power utility located in Tacoma, Washington. It operates as one of the three divisions of Tacoma Public Utilities, alongside Tacoma Water and Tacoma Rail. Tacoma Power primarily uses hydroelectric power and serves approximately 180,000 customers.
Job Description:
City of Tacoma WA is looking for a Research and Development Intern to join the Energy Research and Development team at Tacoma Power. This is a paid internship open to current college students and recent graduates. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting innovative energy projects and customer programs.
Key responsibilities and aspects of the role:
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research.
• Research new technologies.
• Manage data.
• Write reports.
• Create media content.
• Support clean energy programs, transportation electrification, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
Duration and Schedule:
• Expected duration is one year.
• 40 hours of work per week.
Salary:
• $16.72 – $20.33 Hourly
Location:
• Tacoma, WA
Requirements:
• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED (1 year of experience = 1 year of education)
• Minimum Experience: 1 year of post-high school training
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License may be required.
• Skills: Ability to research and summarize information, strong communication skills, interest in grant writing and project management.
