About the Company:
Tacoma Power is an almost 100% hydroelectric, municipally-owned public power utility, located in Tacoma, WA. It serves approximately 180,000 customers as one of the three operating divisions of Tacoma Public Utilities.
Job Description:
Tacoma Power is seeking a Research and Development Intern to join their Energy Research and Development team. This is a paid, entry-level internship aimed at current college students and recent graduates. The internship provides hands-on experience supporting innovative energy projects and customer programs.
Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:
• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative research.
• Research new technologies.
• Manage data.
• Write reports.
• Create media content.
• Gain knowledge and experience in clean energy programs, transportation electrification, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications:
• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum Experience: 1 year of post-high school training (Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education)
• Ability to research, read and summarize information from articles, research studies, and presentations
• Creative, curious, and confident
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience or interest in grant writing and grant management
• Aptitude for project management

• The internship is expected to last one year, with 40 hours of work per week.
