This opportunity is for a Reliability Engineering Internship/Co-op position with Perfetti Van Melle, based at their Rockford, IL facility. The internship is slated for Fall 2025, with an expectation of a 40-hour work week, and offers the potential for extension or rotation into other areas.
Role Overview:
The Reliability Engineering Intern/Co-op will play a crucial role in assisting the Maintenance team. The primary objective is to contribute to the development of next-generation preventive maintenance templates, implement new reliability programs, and ultimately maximize the productivity of the company’s assets.
Key Responsibilities:
The intern’s responsibilities will be diverse and hands-on, including but not limited to:
• Contacting OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers): Reaching out to OEMs to gather best practices, recommended frequencies, and activities for maintenance procedures.
• Developing Preventive Maintenance Templates: Creating detailed templates that technicians will follow, incorporating step-by-step instructions, relevant pictures, references, and measurements.
• CMMS Asset Identification: Assisting in accurately identifying and cataloging assets within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• FI Projects Participation: Contributing to Focused Improvement (FI) projects aimed at optimizing existing maintenance plans.
• Training Development: Creating training materials for operators and technicians to enhance their understanding and execution of maintenance tasks.
• Failure Data Analysis: Analyzing equipment failure data to identify trends, common issues, and areas for improvement.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conducting thorough root cause analyses to determine the underlying reasons for equipment failures.
• Maintenance Process Audits: Performing audits of maintenance processes to ensure compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Procedure Establishment: Developing and formalizing maintenance procedures and protocols to standardize operations.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other departments to ensure that reliability principles are integrated into all aspects of the organization’s operations.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this internship must meet specific academic and personal criteria:
• Education: Currently seeking a BS/MS degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• GPA: A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) specifically in engineering-related courses.
• Work Availability: Ability to commit to full-time work (40 hours per week).
• Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to translate concept drawings into technical baselines.
