Job Description – Registered Nurse (RN) – ORCIP (Operating Room Clinical Internship Program)
Location: Newport News, VA
Type: Internship, Full-time
Onsite: Yes
Responsibilities:
• Patient Assessment and Care:
• Assess patient’s clinical and psychosocial needs using standards of practice related to the specialty or patient population.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care, treatments, and procedures, in collaboration with patients and families, contributing to physiological and psychosocial outcomes.
• Incorporate evidence-based standards of practice and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for care coordination.
• Facilitate safe patient transition to the next level of care as part of the plan.
• Patient Throughput and Quality:
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput, ensuring consistent, competent, and ethical care.
• Focus on quality patient outcomes while addressing service needs.
• Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient care populations.
• Modify education methods to ensure patient/family comprehension.
• Patient Education:
• Assume responsibility for coordinating and delivering individualized patient education and discharge-specific education to families/caregivers.
• Evaluate comprehension and document effectively.
• Documentation and Task Prioritization:
• Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence.
• Emergency Response:
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
• Evaluate necessary resources and support, utilizing systems to ensure needs are met.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Program Graduate, Registered Nurse
• Registered Nurse (RN) – State Department of Health Professions
• CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC)
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree, Nursing
• Experience in an acute care setting (not required)
• Specialty Certification in Nursing Specialty within 1 Year
