Registered Nurse – Operating Room Internship | Michigan Medicine

The TL;DR

• Pay: $41.78–$64.81 hourly
• Mission: To prepare graduate nurses and registered nurses for a new role as a perioperative nurse through comprehensive education and direct patient care.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Undertake a comprehensive six-month operating room orientation program to become a skilled perioperative nurse.
• Gain a wide range of skills and knowledge through combined classroom instruction, laboratory experience, and direct patient care settings.
• Contribute to patient care within the University Hospital Operating Room after successfully completing the internship program.
• Manage assigned 40-hour work weeks, including day/evening shifts, required call, and weekend/holiday obligations.
• Commit to working in the University Hospital-Operating Room for two years upon completion of the internship program.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level nursing professional, including Graduate Nurses, prepared to become a Registered Nurse.
• Experience: No specific prior Operating Room experience is required; all required qualifications must be met before employment begins, including successful NCLEX passage within 45 days of hire for Graduate Nurses.
• Skills:
• Current Michigan RN license, or eligibility for Graduate Nurses to obtain within 45 days of hire.
• Ability to meet a call commitment with a 30-minute response time.
• Willingness to complete an unpaid ½ day observation in the UH-OR.
• Bonus:
• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

• A satisfactory attendance record, proven by employment references
