Travel Nurse RN – Med Surg | AMN Healthcare Nursing
The Tone:
This is a travel nursing position with AMN Healthcare Nursing, located in Lumberton, North Carolina. This role is crucial for providing direct patient care in a medical-surgical setting, addressing critical staffing needs, and supporting overall hospital operations for a 13-week assignment. • Mission: Provide comprehensive medical-surgical patient care, monitor patient conditions, and manage a variety of medical and surgical needs.
• Tech Stack: EPIC, BD Alaris IV Pumps, Omnicell
What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Care: Provide comprehensive direct patient care for medical and surgical patients, managing conditions such as CHF, Diabetes, COPD, ETOH, IVDA, and post-operative recovery.
• Monitoring: Monitor telemetry patients with remote support from a tele tech, identifying rhythm changes, and managing cardiac care.
• Procedures: Perform essential nursing procedures including IV insertion, trach and chest tube management, NG tube placement and management, feeding tubes, foley placement and management, wound care, and dressing changes.
• Central Lines: Manage central lines, including drawing blood samples from these lines, while phlebotomy handles most peripheral draws.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNAs (with a ratio of 1:8-9), unit secretaries, charge nurses, hospitalists, and in-house RTs to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (MS).
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical; will accept a first-time traveler.
• Skills: BLS certification; CPI or MOAB certification (must have prior to start); IV insertion, trach management, chest tube management, NG Tube placement and management, feeding tubes, foley placement and management, wound care, dressing changes, central line management.
• Bonus: ACLS certification, cardiac rhythm interpretation, previous travel experience.
