Weekly Hours: 40.00
Salary Range: $27.50 – $41.50

Department Details:
The department operates with clinical hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There are no weekend, evening, call, or holiday shifts required for this position.

Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian plans, develops, and provides essential diet interventions, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition care, and preventive counseling. This role caters to both individuals and groups across a diverse range of settings, including primary and specialty patient/resident care, acute care, skilled nursing facilities, out-patient clinics, and community environments.

Key responsibilities include:
• Providing medical nutrition therapy services and monitoring the nutritional care of clients/patients/residents of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.
• Conducting nutritional assessments to determine status.
• Developing individualized care plans and recommending provider orders.
• Implementing nutrition therapy, including processing verbal orders, modifying diets, administering nutrition support, and recommending oral nutrition supplements.
• Delivering education and counseling for disease and nutrition risk management.
• Evaluating the outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
• Optimizing self-management education and skills for clients/patients/residents with chronic conditions.
• Recognizing, evaluating, and addressing nutritional needs based on cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs.
• Using an evidence-based approach to evaluate the effectiveness of treatments or procedures.
• Working on nutrition care protocols for the assigned area and acting as a leader for the healthcare team in implementing nutrition therapies.
• Educating on diet according to specific disease states, medical conditions, and health risks.
• Incorporating new trends and techniques to design care plans and update educational materials.
• Assisting in tailoring clinical education materials for clients/patients/residents, families, and caregivers.
• Performing quality control and maintaining high standards for infection control mechanisms.
• Maintaining awareness of individual’s insurance coverage and reimbursement circumstances.
• Actively participating in clinical performance improvement activities, including research that tests new treatments or procedures for clinical evidence of outcomes.

Qualifications:
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or food and nutrition from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program is required. (Note: As of January 1, 2024, a Master’s degree is required for individuals taking the registration exam to become a dietitian. Prior to this date, a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics was sufficient.)
Experience: Clinical nutrition experience obtained through an approved coordinated undergraduate program or successful completion of a post-graduate internship is mandatory.
Licensure/Certification:
• Currently holding a Registered Dietitian (RD) license within the applicable state(s) is required.
• Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is also required.
• For applicable states, a temporary/limited permit nutritionist license will be considered for registry-eligible individuals awaiting their CDR exam. Such individuals will be granted two exam attempts within three months of their hire date.
