Refinery Accounting Intern (Summer 2027) | Valero

This is a summer internship at Valero, located in San Antonio Headquarters, Texas. • Mission: Apply accounting concepts and principles to support the financial operations of Valero refineries and facilitate information exchange across internal stakeholders.
• Tech Stack: SAP BW, other data reporting tools
What You’ll Actually Do
• Monthly Close: Assist in the monthly operating expense close process for a refinery.
• Financial Analysis: Utilize SAP BW and other data reporting tools to analyze financial results and provide information to various stakeholders.
• Project Support: Support various projects typically focused on a detailed aspect of Valero’s financial results.
• Data Management: Format and compile data for internal metrics.
• Financial Preparation: Prepare operating and capital expense accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and operating expense forecasts for refineries.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting.
• Experience: Able to work 40 hours for 12 weeks during Summer 2027; required graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029.
• Skills: Accounting principles application, Financial data analysis, Data compilation and formatting.
• Bonus: Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale; Excellent oral and written communication skills.
