Recreation Program Coordinator Intern – Scheduling and Events | University of Wisconsin–Madison
The Tone:
This is an internship at University of Wisconsin–Madison, located in Madison, WI. The Recreation & Wellbeing department provides premier collegiate recreation services and facilities for the campus community. This role is crucial for supporting event scheduling and execution, offering significant hands-on experience in event planning, logistics, and student-staff leadership. The intern will help bring a variety of events to life and contribute to process improvements for recreation programs all year.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Staffing: Develop and coordinate student event staff by managing their training, development, scheduling, and communication.
• Logistics: Coordinate logistics for a variety of events, including internal programs, student organization gatherings, and campus partner initiatives.
• Administration: Provide essential administrative support for event intake, facility scheduling, equipment tracking, and general office operations.
• Improvement: Contribute to operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements, documentation updates, and policy revisions.
• Management: Prepare and monitor event budgets and develop targeted communication plans and materials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Achieved a high school diploma and is pursuing or holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience: Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Skills: Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service.
• Bonus: Prior event, customer service, or leadership experience.
