Job Summary: Ready-Mix Internship Development Program (IDP)
This 10-week immersive internship program, starting in May of each calendar year, is designed for current college students. It provides hands-on experience and a deep understanding of operations within Cemex’s Ready-Mix division. As an IDP, you will gain exposure to critical areas including:
- Cement Manufacturing
- Process Improvements
- Quality and Reliability
- Equipment Maintenance
- Production Process
- Data Management
Job Responsibilities: What You Will Experience
As a Cemex USA intern, your summer will be rich with opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Safety First: Actively learn about and promote Cemex’s safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all.
- Project-Based Experience: Engage in challenging projects to gain a comprehensive view of Ready-Mix operations, working alongside experienced professionals to solve real-world problems and drive meaningful change.
- Skill Building: Develop both technical and soft skills through hands-on work and continuous learning. You will also refine your presentation skills by sharing project outcomes with the leadership team.
- Networking and Collaboration: Build valuable connections with peers and professionals across the organization, gaining a broader industry perspective for your future career.
- Innovation and Improvement: Contribute unique viewpoints and original ideas, bringing forward innovative solutions that continuously improve processes.
Qualifications: Who We Are Looking For
Cemex seeks students eager to explore end-to-end Ready-Mix operations and maximize this learning opportunity. Ideal candidates will have:
- Educational Foundation: Active pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Concrete Industry Management (CIM), Construction Science Management/Construction Management, Business Administration/Business Management, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (open to more degrees), with at least junior year standing.
- Academic Performance: A GPA of 2.5 or above, with a preference for those with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Leadership Potential: Demonstrated leadership qualities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Communication Skills: Strong analytical and communication abilities, capable of presenting ideas clearly and effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Previous experience from individuals with a passion for the industry, gained through internships, co-op programs, or university projects.
- Team Collaboration: Enjoyment of both independent work and teamwork.
Working Conditions
- Work Schedule: This is a full-time, on-site internship with a 40-hour work week, typically Monday through Friday.
- Environment: Expect a mix of office work and fieldwork, with exposure to varying environmental conditions, including outdoor settings.
