About Job Description, Detailed

This position is an R&D support role within Balchem’s Minerals and Nutrients R&D team. It is specifically based out of Ogden, UT, and relocation assistance is not offered for this role.

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of laboratory activities and provide general support.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions include:
• Participating in general lab/chemical hygiene.
• Assisting with small-scale synthesis procedures.
Running tests and analyzing results using various laboratory instruments.
Gathering and presenting information from scientific literature.
Writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and test methods.
• Maintaining lab cleanliness and performing other routine laboratory tasks.
• Supporting and adhering to laboratory safety protocols.
• Preparing and providing written reports as requested.
• Assisting in the preparation of test solutions, reagents, and chemical compounds.
• Collaborating effectively in a team environment.
• Assisting with pilot lab trials.
• Aiding in the ordering of supplies.
• Performing literature searches for research purposes.
• Providing general assistance to team members with projects.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Must be currently enrolled in Junior or Senior year of college.
• Working towards a degree in the sciences, with examples including Chemistry or Biology.
• A minimum of one semester of Organic Chemistry must have been completed.
• The ability to work 10 to 15 hours per week is required.
• Availability to work within the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
