Job Description: R&D Design & Development Co-op (Fall 2025)

This co-op opportunity is located in Cincinnati, OH, and runs from August 25, 2025, to December 12, 2025. As a co-op, you will contribute to the R&D Design or Development department, gaining hands-on experience in:

Utilizing state-of-the-art tools: Access to and training on advanced tools and technologies.
Product design support: Performing testing, experimentation, and validation to support new product designs.
Design solutions: Contributing to design solutions using CAD tools, simulation tools, and fundamental engineering principles, guided by experienced engineers.
Laboratory testing: Assisting in developing and conducting laboratory testing, interpreting results, and recommending next steps.
CAD training: Potential for intermediate CAD training, including building simulation models, developing kinematics models, and performing stack-up analysis.
Increased responsibility: Responsibilities will increase with each subsequent rotation (multiple rotations are desired). Rotations are generally 12 weeks long.

Eligibility Requirements:

Enrollment: Enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (PhD may be considered) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Academic Standing: Must have completed a minimum of two semesters by January 2025 (sophomore or above) and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Graduation Date: Graduation date must be after April 2025 (classes during the co-op term are not required).
Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the entire co-op term.
Leadership/Community Involvement: Demonstrated leadership or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
Availability: Full-time on-site availability during the co-op term (courses must be completed outside of 8 am – 5 pm, Monday-Friday if taking classes).
Experience (Preferred): Previous internship or co-op experience in the medical device industry.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay: Sophomore: $25.00/hr, Junior: $26.00/hr, Senior: $28.00/hr, Master’s: $33/hr, Software Engineering (2+ years post-grad): $37/hr, PhD: $51.50/hr.
Housing Assistance: A one-time taxable stipend for non-local students living over 50 miles from the site. Transportation is the responsibility of the co-op.
Benefits: Potential eligibility for company-sponsored medical benefits, sick time (up to 40 hours/year, or 56 for Washington state residents), and participation in the company’s retirement plan.
