Job Title: Diagnostic Radiology Technologist (Student Role)

About the Role:
Find your calling at Mercy! This position offers an exciting opportunity to perform diagnostic radiology procedures under the direct supervision of experienced professionals. As a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist (Student Role), you will be responsible for obtaining optimal image quality while providing compassionate, personalized care to patients across all age groups, from neonate to geriatric. This role is integral to ensuring compliance with patient care quality standards and aligning with Mercy’s mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities:
Performs Diagnostic Procedures: Execute diagnostic radiology procedures efficiently and accurately.
Image Quality: Responsible for performing radiographic imaging procedures while consistently obtaining optimal image quality.
Patient Care: Provides personalized care, recognizing the worth and dignity of each patient.
Quality Standards: Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric.
Compliance: Performs all duties and responsibilities consistent with Mercy’s mission, vision, and values.

Supervision Structure:
This role operates under the direct supervision of:
• A licensed Radiologic Technologist
• The Radiology Supervisor
• The Manager/Director of Imaging Services
• A Radiologist

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Enrollment: Currently enrolled in the second year of a nationally accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Language: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Technical Skills: Basic computer knowledge.

Required Abilities and Capabilities:
This individual must be capable of:
• Manipulating radiology equipment, including mobile and other specialized equipment.
• Selecting and manipulating exposure factors correctly.
• Lifting, moving, and transporting patients safely.
• Continual standing and walking throughout shifts.
• Recognizing and responding to emergency situations promptly.
• Adapting to a fast-paced daily workload effectively.
• Communicating effectively with patients, colleagues, and supervisors.
