Queens District Attorney’s Office Summer 2026 Legal Internship
The Office of the Queens County District Attorney is actively seeking highly motivated law students for its Summer Legal Internship Program, scheduled to run from June 8, 2026, through August 7, 2026.
This is a highly competitive program designed to offer law students an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in the operations of the Queens District Attorney’s Office, serving the most diverse county in the country. Interns will collaborate closely with Assistant District Attorneys, gaining invaluable experience and practical knowledge essential for an advocate and a fair-minded public servant. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong and proven interest in public service and criminal law.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau and will receive direct supervision from Assistant District Attorneys. Depending on the bureau assignment, interns will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of prosecutorial work, which may include:
- Conducting research and writing assignments for pending cases.
- Participating in motion and discovery practice.
- Assisting with search warrant applications.
- Observing proffers.
- Conducting civilian and police interviews.
- Making court appearances pursuant to the student practice order.
- Participating in crime scene visits.
- Engaging in community outreach programs with the Community Partnerships Division.
Additionally, interns will be invited to attend various divisional and office-wide legal training sessions, enhancing their legal education and practical skills.
Internship Details:
- Program Duration: Approximately 9 weeks, commencing in early June 2026.
- Bureau Assignment: Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau within the Investigations, Criminal Practice and Policy, Appeals and Special Litigation, Major Crimes, or Supreme Court Trial Division.
- Work Schedule: Interns will work in person Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Compensation: While students are encouraged to seek external funding and scholarships, a generous stipend of $900 per week is available for the duration of the internship. Those receiving partial outside funding will have their stipend supplemented by QDA funding.
- Housing: A limited amount of housing may be available to non-NYC domiciled students on a case-by-case basis, dependent on proximity to the office.
