Job Title: Queens District Attorney’s Office Summer 2026 Legal Internship

About the Office:

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney serves the most diverse county in the country. This highly competitive internship program is designed to provide law students with an outstanding opportunity to learn about the Office, gain practical knowledge, and experience as an advocate and fair-minded public servant.

Internship Duration:

  • Start Date: June 8, 2026
  • End Date: August 7, 2026
  • Program Length: Approximately 9 weeks

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Current law student.
  • Demonstrated interest in public service and criminal law.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau and directly supervised by Assistant District Attorneys. Depending on the bureau assignment, interns will have the opportunity to engage in many aspects of prosecutorial work, including:

  • Legal Research and Writing: Assignments for pending cases, motions, and discovery practice.
  • Case Support: Assisting with search warrant applications.
  • Observation: Observing proffers.
  • Interviews: Conducting civilian and police interviews.
  • Court Exposure: Court appearances pursuant to the student practice order.
  • Field Work: Crime scene visits.
  • Community Engagement: Participation in community outreach programs with the Community Partnerships Division.
  • Training: Invitation to attend divisional and office-wide legal training sessions.

Internship Details:

  • Bureau Assignment: Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau within one of the following divisions:
    • Investigations
    • Criminal Practice and Policy
    • Appeals and Special Litigation
    • Major Crimes
    • Supreme Court Trial Division
  • Work Schedule: In-person, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Compensation:
    • A stipend of $900 per week for the duration of the internship is available.
    • Students are encouraged to seek outside funding and scholarships.
    • Those receiving partial outside funding will be supplemented by QDA funding.
  • Housing: A limited amount of housing will be available to non-NYC domiciled students on a case-by-case basis, dependent on proximity to the office.
