Job Description: Quantitative Systematic Trading Intern

This internship offers a hands-on experience mirroring the work of full-time employees within Susquehanna’s quantitative systematic trading division. Interns will engage in a comprehensive educational program, receive personalized mentorship from industry experts, and build foundational knowledge in quantitative finance. A key aspect of the role involves building alphas (predictive signals) on actual trading strategies.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

Modelling: Apply advanced quantitative techniques, including probability theory, statistical analysis, and machine learning, to predict market behavior and develop profitable trading signals (alphas).
Execution: Design and create robust strategies for executing modelling ideas, operating within a simulated competitive environment to refine approaches.
Evaluation: Rigorously backtest developed ideas using extensive historical market data to assess their performance and identify areas for revision and improvement.
Breadth: Explore diverse facets of quantitative work and gain exposure to various areas of Susquehanna’s broader business operations.
Education & Mentorship: Participate in a structured and comprehensive education program. Interns will benefit from personalized mentorship from experienced professionals, designed to accelerate their growth in quantitative finance.

What Susquehanna is Looking For:

Education: Candidates must be in their penultimate or final year of a Master’s degree program in quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or Economics.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical problem-solvers with excellent logical reasoning abilities and a genuine passion for transforming data into actionable decisions.
Communication: Clear and effective communicators capable of thriving in a fast-paced and highly collaborative work environment.
Programming: Proficiency in programming, specifically comfortable with processing and analyzing large datasets using Python. Experience with C++ (or another low-level language) is considered a significant plus.

Compensation & Benefits: Master’s quantitative systematic trading interns will receive a competitive weekly base salary of $5700 during the ten-week program. In addition, interns will receive a signing bonus, provided housing, daily breakfast and lunch, and various other perks.
