Job Description: Quantitative Researcher Intern

Point72 is seeking exceptional students to join their team as Quantitative Researcher Interns for Fall 2024 and Summer 2025. Interns will work closely with the team, receive comprehensive training, and contribute to the development of novel trading signals with real-world impact.

Responsibilities:

Conduct full pipeline signal research: This includes ideation, implementation, backtesting, and eventual application of new signals.
Adapt and extend existing machine learning results: Apply knowledge and conduct novel research to develop signals that enhance portfolio returns.
Analyze large datasets: Extract valuable features for predictive models from vast amounts of data.
Provide research assistance: Support the team with various research tasks.
Improve research infrastructure: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the team’s research environment.

Desirable Candidates:

Masters or PhD candidates: In machine learning, computer science, finance, mathematics, or related quantitative disciplines.
Independent research experience: Demonstrated ability to utilize machine learning on large, potentially noisy datasets.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills: Detail-oriented mindset is essential.
Proficiency in Python or C++: Experience with the Linux environment is also required.
Excellent communication skills: Proactive engagement and collaboration are crucial for a team-oriented research environment.
Ownership and initiative: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Ethical commitment: Adherence to the highest ethical standards.

Compensation:

The annual base salary for this internship is $120,000-$180,000 (USD), prorated based on the internship start and end date. Actual compensation may vary based on factors like geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
