Job Overview
As a Quantitative Research Intern at Susquehanna, you will engage in projects designed to mirror the work of our full-time quantitative researchers. This comprehensive internship includes a structured education program and direct interaction with mentors who are leaders in their field, providing a robust foundation in quantitative finance. You will have the unique opportunity to build alphas on an actual trading strategy, making a tangible impact within the program.
What You Can Expect (Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities)
- Modelling: Apply advanced techniques from probability theory, statistical analysis, and machine learning to predict market behavior and generate trading alphas.
- Execution: Develop and refine strategies for executing modelling ideas, operating under simulated competitive conditions.
- Evaluation: Rigorously backtest developed ideas using extensive historical market data and iteratively revise strategies based on performance.
- Breadth of Experience: Explore the full spectrum of quantitative work and gain exposure to diverse areas of Susquehanna’s business operations.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
Academic Background:
- PhDs (in penultimate or final year) in highly quantitative fields such as:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Statistics
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Operations Research
- Economics
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Analytical Problem-Solvers: Possess excellent logical reasoning abilities and a strong passion for transforming data into actionable decisions.
- Clear Communicators: Able to articulate complex ideas effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
- Proficient Programmers: Comfortable processing and analyzing large datasets, with strong skills in Python. Experience with C++ (or another low-level language) is a significant plus.
- Strategic Thinkers: Demonstrated interest in strategic games and/or competitive activities.
- Self-Motivated Learners: Highly self-motivated, quick to learn, and capable of thriving in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Weekly Base Salary: PhD quantitative research interns will receive a $6000 weekly base salary during the ten-week program.
