Job Description: Quantitative Research Intern

Overview

As a Quantitative Research Intern at Susquehanna, you will engage in projects designed to mirror the work of full-time employees. The internship includes a comprehensive education program and opportunities to interact with and be mentored by top professionals in the field, enabling the development of foundational knowledge in quantitative finance. A key aspect of the role is the chance to build alphas on an actual trading strategy.

What You Can Expect (Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities)

Modelling: Apply advanced techniques including probability theory, statistical analysis, and machine learning to predict market behavior and generate alphas.
Execution: Develop and implement strategies to execute on modelling ideas within a simulated competitive environment.
Evaluation: Conduct backtesting of ideas using historical market data and subsequently revise strategies based on the findings.
Breadth: Gain exposure to and explore all aspects of quant work across different areas of Susquehanna’s business.
Education: Participate in a comprehensive education program and receive personalized mentorship from experienced professionals to accelerate your growth and learning.
Collaboration: Work in an open and highly collaborative environment, allowing you to engage with multiple teams and gain exposure to various groups and parts of the business.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications and Skills)

Education: Candidates should be in their penultimate or final year of a Masters degree in highly quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or Economics.
Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability as an analytical problem-solver with excellent logical reasoning and a strong passion for transforming data into actionable decisions.
Communication: Clear communication skills are essential, particularly in a fast-paced and highly collaborative work environment.
Programming Proficiency: Comfortable processing and analyzing large data sets in Python. Experience with C++ (or another low-level language) is considered a significant advantage.
Strategic Thinking: Evidence of being a strategic thinker with demonstrated interests in strategic games and/or competitive activities.
Work Ethic: Self-motivated and a quick learner, capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
