Job Description

Job Title: Quality Intern

Summary: The Quality Intern will play a supportive role in various quality-related activities. This includes assisting with process audits, system updates, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers practical, hands-on experience in conducting quality assessments, implementing process improvements, supporting corrective actions, and updating essential documentation.

Responsibilities:
• Aid in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) studies and process audits to identify and address areas needing improvement.
• Support corrective actions and problem-solving activities aimed at enhancing product quality and reducing scrap/rework.
• Contribute to the rebranding of controlled documents and assist with system changes, including updates for supplier flow-downs and customer onboarding processes.
• Conduct environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations, specifically involving hazardous chemical inventory and updates to the Spill Prevention Plan.
• Help in tracking scrap costs, reviewing historical data, and ensuring adherence to industry specifications and certifications.

Competencies:
• Possess strong attention to detail, particularly in document management, environmental audits, and system updates.
• Demonstrate knowledge of quality management systems (such as COPQ, RCCA – Root Cause Corrective Action) and environmental compliance regulations (e.g., SARA Title III, SPCC – Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure).
• Exhibit strong analytical skills for identifying process gaps, tracking scrap costs, and supporting corrective actions.
• Have strong communication and organizational skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and support improvement initiatives.
• Possess the ability to learn and adapt to new quality standards, evolving customer requirements, and environmental documentation practices.

Education and/or Experience:
• Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university.
• Required experience includes one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Background Prerequisites:
• Successful candidates must undergo and meet company standards for a background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.

• The role requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
