Detailed Job Description: Quality Assurance Intern (Mechanical Engineering)

Position Summary:

This internship offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Engineering student to contribute to Vertiv’s critical infrastructure quality assurance efforts. The successful intern will play a key role in ensuring the high quality of Vertiv’s products, from product release transition to manufacturing process audits and issue resolution. This role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic global company that combines industry leadership with the agility of a startup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Relationship Management: Maintain an active and interactive quality relationship with the manufacturing plant, focusing on ensuring an effective and smooth transition of new product releases into the manufacturing quality support framework.
  • Process Auditing: Conduct regular audits of product manufacturing processes to verify adherence to Vertiv plant control plans, identifying any deviations or areas for improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a crucial interface, collaborating closely with Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, and Product Management teams. The goal is to gain deep insights into product design and operational processes to proactively understand and drive improvements in both product and service quality.
  • Project Investigation & Resolution: Take ownership of assigned Quality Assurance (QA) projects, investigating root causes of quality issues and developing effective resolutions.
  • Meeting Coordination: Initiate and lead regular meetings with Manufacturing and Quality personnel to ensure that all activities are aligned and progressing effectively towards meeting new product quality plans and objectives.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, contributing flexibly to the team’s goals.

Qualifications:

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an intern candidate, entering either their Junior or Senior year of a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have successfully completed, at a minimum, the first two years of studies at an accredited university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated good verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Analytical & Writing Skills: Strong analytical capabilities coupled with effective writing skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage tasks, projects, and information efficiently.
  • Software Proficiency: Desired proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
