Book Publishing Intern | The Post and Courier
The Tone:
This is an internship at Evening Post Books, the book publishing division of Evening Post Publishing, parent company of The Post and Courier, located in Downtown Charleston, SC, with remote options considered. Evening Post Books develops and publishes various book titles. This role is crucial for assisting both the editorial team in co-producing new titles and the marketing team in transposing these titles to social media and digital platforms. The intern will directly contribute to increasing brand awareness and reach while developing key professional skills in a publishing environment.

• Mission: To support the editorial and marketing teams in publishing and promoting book titles to expand brand awareness and reach across digital platforms.
• Tech Stack: Canva, Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Calendar, SharePoint), Dropbox
What You’ll Actually Do
• Editorial Production Support: Copy edit post-development book proofs, ensuring accuracy and quality before publication.
• Digital Asset Management: Manage and organize all project assets, including images, documents, and graphics, for various book projects.
• Social Media Content Creation & Management: Create, schedule, and publish diverse social media content (static posts, carousels, reels, stories) across all EPB platforms to engage audiences.
• Marketing Campaign Collaboration: Collaborate with the marketing manager and editorial team on comprehensive book launch support, promotional campaigns, and audience engagement initiatives.
• Web Content and Newsletter Development: Pitch and create engaging web content, such as blog posts, and develop monthly newsletters to inform and reach subscribers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student, pursuing studies focused in English, marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Demonstrated experience creating social media content using Canva, coupled with a strong understanding of current platform trends, best practices, and various content formats (e.g., static posts, carousel posts, reels, stories).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications, including Outlook, Calendar, and SharePoint, as well as experience with file management platforms like Dropbox.
• Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Creative thinking with a proactive, adaptable mindset that approaches all projects with enthusiasm.
• Exceptional organizational skills, including a keen eye for project/time management, prioritization, and execution.
• Ability to manage tasks effectively both independently and as a contributing member of a team.
