About the Job
Position Title: Public Relations & Partnerships Intern
Type & Eligibility: This is a remote internship opportunity specifically for current college students who are enrolling in an internship course for college credit.
Term & Compensation: The internship term is Fall 2025. Compensation is solely in the form of college credit, requiring the intern to be enrolled in a relevant college course.
Desired Fields of Study: Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, and Marketing.
Hours Desired: 15-20 hours per week.
A Day In The Life: As a PR & Partnerships intern, the individual will work closely with the team to enhance their skills. The role involves overseeing the media relations process from start to finish (A-Z), gaining practical experience in celebrity and brand partnership coordination, and being an actively involved member of the PR & Partnerships Department.
Responsibilities: The intern will undertake a range of tasks designed to provide comprehensive experience in public relations and partnerships, including:
• Building targeted media lists using both manual methods and tools like Cision/Muck Rack.
• Monitoring for media coverage and sending timely alerts to relevant teams.
• Identifying key opinion leaders, including influencers and celebrities, for product seeding initiatives.
• Developing an understanding of a journalism masthead and identifying appropriate targets for media outreach.
• Learning the media relations process and supporting pitching efforts to national, regional, and trade media outlets.
• Monitoring for relevant industry trends.
• Learning how to effectively report on PR campaigns and coverage to clients.
• Participating actively in training sessions focused on the fundamentals of PR.
• Contributing creative ideas during brainstorming sessions with the PR team.
• Assisting in crafting compelling pitches and press releases.
• Developing project management skills through hands-on experience with Asana.
• Collaborating with the wider Power Digital team in cross-channel strategy sessions, lunch and learns, and a semester-end team project.
• Brainstorming potential brand and celebrity partnership ideas.
• Monitoring social media and paparazzi sites for gifting opportunities.
• Building brand and celebrity seeding lists and assisting with outreach.
Role Requirements: To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
• Previous internship and/or professional experience is strongly encouraged, with PR and/or Influencer-specific experience being a plus.
• A foundational understanding of media relations and the PR industry.
• Extreme attention to detail.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Exceptional organizational abilities, capable of juggling multiple projects flawlessly.
• A proactive and team-oriented approach.
• A positive, can-do attitude.
• An eagerness to learn and develop overall communications skills.
• Familiarity with PR processes.
