About The Internship Program:
This 10-week internship offers hands-on training and an opportunity to become an integral part of our Education Department. We are looking for motivated individuals with a passion for art, wellness, and/or horticulture to join our team.

  • Location: Onsite
  • Hours: Approximately 8–10 hours per week
  • Compensation: $15.92 per hour
  • Experience: Gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experiences to support your personal and professional growth. This program is open to all individuals, regardless of educational background, who have a strong interest in the fields of art, wellness, and/or horticulture.

Position Overview:
The Public Programs Intern will directly support the Director of Education and Engagement in the scheduling, production, and implementation of interactive, hands-on programs for children, families, and adults. This position requires collaboration across various departments and with external partners to provide meaningful learning experiences for all visitors.

The primary duties involve assisting the Education Department by shadowing and coordinating programming related to art, horticulture, and wellness. This includes supporting the production of a diverse range of public and private programs such as:

  • Studio-based and horticulture-rooted workshops.
  • Drop-in programs for intergenerational and family audiences.
  • Wellness offerings geared towards adults.
  • A very active teambuilding program for private and corporate groups.
  • Extended community partnership programs.
  • Performances and other small and large-scale events throughout the internship term.

Special projects and assistance with facilitating informal education offerings in the galleries and studios will be assigned as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities:

  • Work closely with the Manager of Learning Experiences to learn the process of creating and executing educational programs for families and adults, based on themes, materials, and audience needs.
  • Assist with the facilitation of a variety of informal education offerings in the galleries and studios alongside Museum Educators.
  • Gain knowledge of best practices in curriculum development, facilitating conversations, and program evaluation.
  • Engage in an interest-based project tailored to your growth.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the department.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent Work.
  • Meticulous organization and planning skills are desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) practices.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of art materials and techniques is a plus.
  • Demonstrate respect and inclusiveness to all employees, embracing differences.
  • Occasional weekend work required.
